Clone Basics

Here are some basics for getting your clones started.

Light Cycle:

-Indoors

In the store the clones are under constant 24hour light. They require a minimum 18 hours of light to stay in vegetative state. To stimulate flower production, change the light cycle to 12 hours of light and 12 hours dark.

-Outdoors

The best time for vegetative growth in this area is the last three weeks of June. Any other time clones will start to go into flower at once. The rate at which plants go into flower outdoors is slower and less pronounced at first than when done indoors.

*Special Note: Plants that are accustomed to the outside are less affected by light during their dark cycle, but they will mature slower if consistently showered with light at night.

-Transferring Outside

Any indoor light will have less power than the sun. As a result, plants that have been grown indoors need to be acclimated to the sun in a process known as “hardening off.” This is done by placing the plants in full shade and slowly increasing the amount of direct sunlight they get over a 7–10-day period. It is fine to take the plants inside at night to give them extra light during this process.

*Special Note: The best light to initially give your plants is morning and afternoon light. Avoid giving your plants midday sunlight for the first 4-5 days of hardening off.

Soil + Roots:

Our clones arrive rooted in rockwool. Rockwool is a neutral medium that can be placed directly into any grow environment of your choosing. DO NOT REMOVE THE ROCKWOOL BEFORE PLANTING YOUR CLONE! You will have a 99.9% chance of killing your clone if you do this.

Any off the shelf soil mixture that is good for peppers or tomatoes will be adequate. However, the soil will not have enough nutrients for the entire plant's life. Liquid nutrients can be bought at local nurseries. You do not need to buy both veg + bloom bases if you go with a cannabis specific nutrient company. The flower base will work fine. You will want to buy cal/mag (calcium/magnesium) regardless.

*Potting soil comes either with peat moss or coco coir as the main filler. The more coco in your soil mixture the more cal/mag you will need to add.
