State of the Industry

Lompoc is a unique place to be involved in the cannabis industry. The city of Lompoc has no limits on the amount of cannabis shops that they allow to open, therefor it is a mecca for operators to flock to for a free-enterprise system. This is good and bad. Good because free enterprise makes it a fair market due to the extensive competition - which drives the price down for the consumers. Bad for those small business owners bottom line because for many, it is a race to the bottom. Other municipalities often have a cap and a lottery system for opening a cannabis dispensary which has kept the market both fair and unsaturated. Why has Lompoc chosen this other route? Why do shops continue to open only to shut down a few months or years (at best), knowing this is such a heavily saturated market? Hope I suppose. The dream.

At Leaf, we feel fortunate to have been the very first recreational dispensary in the County of Santa Barbara. It gave us a lead on gaining the loyalty of customers, and we have continued to stay fair and competitive in our pricing while also expanding our portfolio of brands that we carry to offer a unique shopping experience. Our buyers take pride in seeking out and negotiating relationships with quality cannabis brands and offering a variety of exclusivity in our products. We do carry standard (staple) brands as well and do our best to match the prices of other local dispensaries for those who don’t want to branch out into something new. That’s fine. We all have our favorites!

Bottom line - Leaf Lompoc is a steadfast presence in the industry. While we observe other pioneers enter and exit the scene, we extend our sympathy to their endeavors. Above all, we value our customers and commit to standing the test of time.
